From the Passenger Seat

Limited edition prints by Vihan Shah
On view at Kala Ghoda Cafe, Mumbai – March 13 to April 9

Description

A series of photographs taken from the front seat of a moving car, on a road trip through Ladakh in late 2022.

Shot across 2,500 kilometres—through dust trails, river bends, mountain passes where the air thins, and weather that changed by the hour—I had my camera, and the view through a moving window. No stops, no second chances.

The window became my lens, filtering what I saw and shaping what I could capture. These aren’t composed in the traditional sense—they’re glimpses, fleeting and partial, reflecting the way we often move through places: observing, but never fully inside them.

It’s a departure from how I usually shoot. But something about the rhythm of the road—the way it moves past you whether you’re ready or not—felt right. These photos are my attempt to keep up.
